What to Expect {Your Newborn Studio Session}
You just found out you're expecting! Congratulations!
You have already done the research and found the photographer that is the right fit to capture this important moment in your growing families life… and you’ve decided it’s me! I am so excited to plan and work with you to create the perfect gallery and session for your family.
Your little one has arrived and your home from the hospital and we have planned a date and time for your session. Here is what to expect when you come for your newborn session in studio.
First off I am located in Carman MB. I will be sending over details on where I am located as soon as booking is finalized. When you arrive to studio I will give you a quick run down on the space… where the bathroom is, snacks, water, juice, coffee and toys for toddlers to pass the time. My waiting area is comfortable and ready for you to make yourself at home for the next two hours.
I will then go over the basic plan for the session. The props Ive pulled and colors for wraps hair ties and other things. There should be no surprises here as we have already been in conversation as to what you were dreaming of for your session. If you feel like anything should be changed just let me know.
I like to start with family pictures… that way if there is a toddler or siblings involved we can finish there part of the session and allow them to chill, play or even go home with an adult when there part is done. The family part of the session is a mix of camera aware photos (smiling at the camera) and more candid lifestyle pictures (kisses from sibling, snuggles, playing with toes and fingers and just connecting). There is a section in my studio with a bed and a more lifestyle look and feel that works perfectly to create these beautiful moments.
After everyone is a bit more comfortable with me and my process I will then do the sibling shot. I do this second as most toddlers need a little time to warm up to me… and that’s ok. I am a stranger to them. So we take our time with mom and dad and the whole crew so they can see that the studio is a safe place. This part of the session takes the most patience and time. I will pull out all the tricks to get smiles and maybe even giggles. All kids are so very different but over 10 years of experience the one thing I know is that patience and gentleness are always essential for a good session.
After the siblings are done… it’s some quick shots with mom and baby, dad and baby because those are so important. We then focus on some beautiful portrait style photos of baby alone on a posing bed or a props or two depending on how baby is doing and the time we have left.
Usually a general session will leave room for at least two props and one classic pose either on a posing bed or a Moses basket for a more lifestyle look.
After your session is done I ask for two weeks to process your images and put together your gallery. I then pass them on to you via the email we have been in contact with. You can then download the high res images for printing and your own personal back ups or the websize gallery for sharing the images on social media. I never post any images on social media without your consent. I value my clients privacy a lot. I do love sharing my work on social media because it is a fantastic tool for advertising and I am always proud of my work and what I do but your privacy and wishes in regards to that matter much more to me.
I really hope this paints a very clear picture of exactly what to expect for your session in studio! Of course if you have any further questions don’t hesitate to ask! I am genuinely so excited to work with your family!
