Where to Find Great Maternity Clothes| Maternity
Good Morning Friends! It has been a busy week of Maternity sessions for me in studio. I’ve been having great conversations with so many amazing mama’s and mama’s to be about where people source clothing when their baby bump starts to show.
So much has changed since I was expecting. I remember going into brick and mortar stores with my mom or my sisters and trying on clothing… the whole concept was completely bizarre to me… because for my first child at the time I was barely showing. So I had to buy clothes that were not quite fitting because eventually I would be so grateful for that extra room.
Now… I am finding that most maternity clothes shopping happens online. But there are still places to shop and try on. So here is what you told me!
First and foremost many of you mentioned the best option of all… clothes swapping with a friend. Having a community of women around you that can share these pricey pieces of clothing that you only need for 9-12 months is such a great idea! Along those lines I just came across an amazing Consignment Store in Winnipeg MB called Ever After Maternity Consignment. Just google it! There were so many options for gently used maternity clothing. Also some rentals if you need a lovely gown. I personally just rented four gowns for some photosessions because to own a gown costs $$ and I wanted to try out some new styles without the huge financial commitment. This business was incredibly helpful plus when I went to pick up the gowns I also found one beautiful black form fitting gown that I bought for studio! Other low budget affordable options would be the MCC store, Virage Sale, and Buy and Sell.
For online options these were some favourites that were mentioned. H&M was brought up a lot! It turns out that they also have a small section in store for maternity but more options online for sure. The Gap and Old Navy were brought up a lot. Pink Blush was a new one for me but it was mentioned quite a few times so it must be a popular one! RW& Co sells Thyme maternity for those classic pieces that stand the test of time. Also, it is always worth grabbing a few basic tees or tights off Amazon. The great part about online shopping is that you can do it from the comfort of your home!
If you love seeing your purchase before you buy and trying it on, then here are some in store options for you! Bump Maternity has some incredible pieces that are high quality and timeless. These are the pieces you pull out for the first, second, third, and fourth pregnancy and then pass them onto sisters or friends. Like I mentioned before H&M does have a small maternity section which is great if you are out shopping and also need some clothes for your kids or your husband. And of course… while this is not an option for Manitoba, Target still is one of my favourite stops for everything! So if I ever was pregnant again… which I won’t be : ) I would definitely make a quick stop there to see what they had to offer.
The last option is using non maternity clothing that has a shape or fabric that works well for your ever growing bump. Apparently Lu Lu Lemon Allign tights are very comfortable and versatile. Maxi dresses from Amazon were mentioned as well. Any jersey knit material will be fairly comfy and stretchy.
Stepping into this new shape with confidence is key. You are amazing. Your body is growing a new life! Finding pieces to wear during this time is so important and also for the months postpartum as well.
And that’s it! This is what you have been telling me. I really hope this was helpful. If it was… feel free to comment. Or give me some feedback as to where you are sourcing your maternity clothes from!
